Biography
The daughter of a seamstress growing up in the sweatshops of Cabramatta, Lang Leav has from humble beginnings, established herself as a multi -award winning fashion designer.
Following the creation of her label Akina in 2005, Lang was awarded the Qantas Spirit of Youth Award, bringing her to the attention of industry heavyweights such as Peter Morrissey. Shortly afterwards, her label was picked up by key boutiques throughout Sydney, Melbourne and Tokyo, Japan. In 2007, Lang was awarded a prestigious Winston Churchill Fellowship. Her inspiring story was featured in a documentary that aired nationally on ABC TV.
Lang's creations are highly sought after, with her limited edition designs selling out immediately upon release. She creates images that are hauntingly beautiful, translating them into exquisite hand finished garments. Her work has featured in several high profile art exhibitions including the recent Kids of Today held at the MTV Gallery in Sydney.
